ALBERTA PROVINCIAL TEAMS:

The ASRCA holds Alberta Team Trials in the Spring and Fall of each year.  Selections to the 'Junior' (Canada Games Core Team) and the 'Senior' Team are based on these trials. A re-selection of the AB Team will be made based on each consuecutive event.

ALBERTA CANADA GAMES CORE TEAM:

Each year leading up to the 2009 CSG, the ASRCA will host two sets of team trials to identify a CSG Core Team. This group of athletes will participate in any CSG related training events. The Western Canada Games Team will be selected from the top performing Core Team athletes and will serve as a major preperation event leading to the Canada Games in 2009.

Core Team Size:

During 2007, up to ten athletes per discipline will be nominated to the CSG Core team.  During 2008, this will be reduced to eight athletes per discipline.  Finally, the twenty member AB CSG Team (i.e., 5 athletes per discipline) will be selected based upon the results of our CSG trials to be held in the spring of 2009.

2006 - 12 athletes per discipline
2007 - 10 athletes per discipline
2008 - 8 athletes per discipline
2009 - 5 athletes per discipline *Canada Games Year

Athletes under 18 years of age as of January 1, 2009 are eligible for the 2009 CSG.

The four-year AB CSG Team “Road Map” is currently under construction.  AB CSG team members will be notified when the Road Map is posted on the AB Team web site: www.albertasprintcanoe.com
